Yesterday in the evening we returned from our skiing holidays in Südtirol. After one week of snowboarding my backside aches and my right arm isn't totally usable anymore but it has been real fun. Perhaps I'll get an own a snowboard in the future :-)
My present for Chistmas last year was the 10 DVD Collectors Box of Terence Hill and Bud Spencer. This is real culture man :)
After all those "Linux" cell phones that were build on top of linux without the user recognizing it there will be a true linux cellular phone by FIC probably in early 2007. Although the design is a question of taste the idea behind this "toy" is great. You have the possibility to install all the software you want and need and if something is missing or doesn't fit your needs you can easily code it yourself (that is if you know how to code ;-)).
Some pictures and facts can be found in this official press release. It's only a pity that it has no qwert(z/y)-keyboard like my HTC Wizard because you get used to it very easily ...
Isabel send me the link to this video. This resembles the car of my dreams very good :-)
This monday I made the decision to cancel my current job in the near future. The main reason was not that I didn't like it (okay, php gets really boring after a while :-)). The working atmosphere was very good and for that reason it was fun to be there. No, I just wanted to quit to become a student assistant at the university to get a feeling for what it is like to work there and to get more familiar with real science projects and applications. So my plan was to make a switch around the end of this semester / the beginning of the next semester.
Then this Wednesday I luckily got a job offer at the the Chair of Computer Science 4 for Communication and Distributed Systems, exactly the one I wanted to do my diploma exam at. It really couldn't be any better. So I'll start my work there at the first of December as assistant for Karl-Heinz Krempels.
As you can see my plan to cancel my old job at the end of this semester or some time later is no longer valid, but I don't care :-) I'll assist them in finding someone new and solving problems that might occur during the next few months, but won't start any new projects.
Yes yes yes, Nine Inch Nails will be coming to Germany next year! I already ordered tickets yesterday, the first day they were available. Finally I have the chance to see my idol (only concerning music for sure :-)) live. This will hopefully be a great show!
And there is other good news concerning music: It seems that the Smashing Pumpkins are going to release a new album soon. At least their homepage says so ... Perhaps there will be the possibility to see them live next year, too. And if Type o would also release a new record next year that would really be a great year for me :-)
Last but not least: My Macbook is running without problems right now. So all the walks to the Macservice paid out.
edit (8.11.2006 - 08:02am):
I just saw that Type o Negative are going to torture us with a new record next spring or early summer. Yes, that truly is going to be a great year.
My Macbook is back from service and with the new heatsink it doesn't shut down randomly anymore. Now the problem is to get it running ...
It won't boot up without the powercable connected and it doesn't load the battery anymore. Surprisingly I can plug the cable off while the book is running and I guess it would run until the battery is empty. But I didn't try it because then I cannot load it anymore :-). So right now I'm waiting for a call from the apple service that a new logicboard arrived and that they change it in my macbook. Hopefully the time of beeing a betatester for the macbook is over then ...
The new semester has begun a few days ago and I realize that my oral exam in electrical engineering won't be too soon because it's too much to learn and till now I didn't understand all the things I read. It's getting better by now and I probably will try to have the oral exam somewhen during this semester.
I have my macbook for about two months now and thought that all the problems many others had with it passed me by. I was wrong. The random-shutdown problem hit me like many other users, too. Here you can read more about the problem and its solution.
So right now the book is at the apple store and I hope they fix it soon because there's nothing better than this notebook. Everything else worked just fine and it's even possible to play some windows games (like good old Counterstrike) after installing Windows XP via Bootcamp.
